We begin our adventure by departing from the Alcântara Dock and sail along the river, passing under the bridge over the Tagus River, found right in front of Christ the King. Here you can also enjoy breathtaking views from the riverfront of Belém. Passing the Bugio Lighthouse and in front of the São Julião da Barra fort, we turn south towards Cape Espichel,
where we are normally visited by dolphins.
There is a tradition for those who fold Cape Espichel for the first time: to pay a round of Gin’s to the whole crew. We will sail along the cliffs whose crystal clear waters hide caves and inaccessible beaches where we can hear the waves breaking in the caves. We then enter the Sesimbra marina where we will spend the night on board. You can choose to dine on board or in one of the many restaurants for which Sesimbra is famous for. And of course, before returning to the boat, we will take the opportunity to fulfill the Gin tradition.
On the next day, and after enjoying breakfast on board, we will leave the marina towards Praia da Ribeira do Cavalo where after setting anchor, we will spend the morning diving and having fun in the water. We will have lunch on board around noon, after which we will set sail on the return trip back. Usually the return trip takes longer than the outward trip so we should arrive in Lisbon between 19:00 and 20:00 in the evening.
Be sure to bring along comfortable and cool clothing to wear during the day, and warm clothes for the evening or cooler weather. A windbreaker is a great way to protect you from the wind. Make sure your shoes have non-marking rubber soles. Don't forget to bring along food and drinks for the journey, sunscreen and a hat.
